We traveled by taxi to Tunja ('toon-ha'), 3hours to the north of Bogota, to visit our friends Alexandra and her 4-year old daughter Nad. Nad ran circles around the twins, she's such a dynamo, and she's aclimated to the 10,500 feet altitude (compared to 9,500 of Bogota). It was cold and we bought sweaters for great prices. We ate cooked cornmeal with raisins wrapped in a banana leaf. Our hotel presidential suite and pool kept us in Tunja for longer than we'd planned.

Villa de Leyva is close to Tunja and is a national treasure.
