A Vehicle by Vehicle History of the Ringsruds

From 1912 on...

Great Ringsrud Car Crashes

The Ringsrud Family, more than most other families, has had a very definite and significant automotive history. Fron the 1909 Cadillac bought new by AO Ringsrud and the new Ford Dealership in Elk Point to the '57 Chevy that Rian put three two barrel carburators on, or the 1100 GSXR Suzuki that young Ron went 157 MPH on; we have always been driving, fixing up or thinking about things automotive. As a family we can be defined easily by our cars - just read on and see:In front of the old Ringsrud House in Elk Point we see a young Knute Ringsrud at 12 years of age out riding a Shetland Pony buggy back when horses ruled the road!

In 1909, Amund Ringsrud bought the first Cadillac in Elk Point. It was a prize possesion but, since Amund never drove, it soon fell into the hands of son Knute who turned it into a racer in 1912.

The Cadillac, stripped down as a racer. That same year A.H. got the first Ford Dealership in the Region - selling Model T's, Overlands, and Michelin tyres in Elk Point. This is a truck from the Elk Point Ford dealership; look at the lettering: "Elk Point SD" and "Sales & Service" and that great phone number "43"! Ron and hunting buddies drove this all the way to Winner SD to hunt praire chicken. He remembers being with Aaron Pace, Bob Kent, and brothers Len and B. Johnson.

Guess what this is? No, Really! I'm just the webmaster - Dad, if you can remember anything about this, send it in, I bet theres a good story here. The writing on the back of the photo says, "Ron Ringsrud and Billy Schatzel", and the side of the car says, "Ringsrud-Stackne Co." and the triangle says,"Beresford, Alcester, Elk Point". More info would be added here as it comes in.
